Our Programmes
We are excited to offer two linked but distinct ITT programmes. Both programmes follow similar patterns. In the first half of each term there is a mixture of taught sessions – many face-to-face but with some online teaching as well – alongside days in school where you get to try out some of the strategies you’ve learned as well as observing and working alongside experienced teachers.
The second half of each term is a formal ‘School Block Placement’ in which you take on the role of the class teacher. The percentage of teaching time you deliver increases across the three terms – leaving you more than ready to teach your chosen phase when you enter your ECT (early career teacher) year.
Primary 3-7
(Early Years & Key Stage 1) QTS with PGCE
Our 3-7 course focuses on Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1, preparing trainees to teach from Nursery through to Year 2. The taught element of the programme looks at how young children learn and curriculum provision across EYFS and Key Stage 1, as well as developing trainees’ skills and knowledge as teachers. Across their training year, trainees will benefit from school placements in both EYFS settings and Key Stage 1.
Primary 5-11
(Key Stage 1 & Key Stage 2) QTS with PGCE
Our 5-11 course focuses on Key Stages 1 and 2, preparing trainees to teach across the full Year 1 to Year 6 age range. The taught element of the programme blends theory and practice – with ‘curriculum’ sessions tending to be particularly practical. Trainees will typically enjoy school placements in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 – providing them with the knowledge, confidence and experience to teach pupils from 5 to 11.
